Military Photographers
on the Frontlines
“The assignment... simple. The
objective... illusive. The cost... immeasurable. We are the men
and women who go through great risks to get the shot. We
extraordinary videographers and photojournalists train with the
best, operate in the worst and get noticed the least. Our
mission is to be there when history happens. Ever notice that
photo or video clip in the news, book, or documentary? Well,
someone had to be there. Someone had to get the shot. Someone
had to tell the story. We are that someone.”

photographers in the world, Military Combat Photographers.
Embedded with units as they perform their missions, these brave

other high risk situations to capture powerful images of war and
peace.

American Eagle Heroes America's Ambassadors of Peace, Hope & Freedom
Every great organization past and present has had a symbol, an insignia that is chosen to represent that organization. It does much more than serve as ambassador to the rest of the world, it’s an invisible badge worn on the hearts of its people. It gives them a sense of identity and pride. The meaning becomes an exemplar to the people for whom it stands.
Our great nation, the United States of America , has several symbols that make known our identity, but one in particular is a symbol that illustrates more vividly the character and heart of our nation and the essence that makes us great.
No doubt the designers of the Great Seal put much thought into its symbols. Perhaps most Americans could identify with its centerpiece; the bald eagle with outstretched wings clutching in one of its talons a bundle of arrows but in the other an olive branch. The great eagle holds the options of the power of war and weaponry as well as peace and compassion.
The embodiment of The American Eagle is alive in each and every one of our brave men and women in the Armed Forces. Routinely the world is exposed to the images of them that display our power and brute strength, our ability to destroy. Often overlooked are the overwhelming images of them putting themselves in harms way not only going into battle, but looking out for children, protecting schools, and performing humanitarian work for people and children all around the world. Like the eagle’s head which is turned toward the olive branch rather than its arrows, so are our brave ambassadors quicker to show kindness and compassion rather than to engage in war.
It is our duty to honor our soldiers who are dispatched to all corners of the world to protect our freedom and bring peace and the hope of freedom to people and protect that freedom with their lives. Each soldier illustrate to the world the essence of who we are as a people and a nation. The people of our great nation are to be that our brave men and women of the Armed Forces are not always agents of war, more often they are purveyors of peace.
